Matthew Willacy is one of Cranleigh’s “Young Guns”.

He has joined the elite team of young analysts at Cranleigh after starting his career at Westpac in the graduate programme.  

With a conjoint Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Finance) and Bachelor of Engineering (with First Class Honours in Civil Engineering) from Auckland University, Matthew is well qualified to work at the sharp end of business. He is still studying towards becoming a Chartered Financial Analyst and sat the level one exam last month.

During his time at Cranleigh he has worked on a number of big assignments, including DB’s purchase of Nelson-based cider maker Redwood Cellars, the creation of NZ Farmers Livestock, the country’s biggest 100% New Zealand owned livestock agency, and various  tasks for radiology company TRG.

Matthew’s assimilation into Cranleigh’s “Young Guns” club has been helped by his dedication to watching almost all sports, but particularly cricket, rugby and rugby league.

As a premier reserve cricket player for Parnell Cricket Club, Matthew has been heavily involved in the club’s affairs on and off the pitch and was club captain until recently. He has given away cricket while he trains for the Auckland Half Marathon and Cranleigh Kauri Run – a 13km corporate challenge on the Coromandel Peninsula.
